Description
Introduction
The resilient wedge gate valve is designed for use in fire protection systems and general water distribution. These valves provide a reliable bubble-tight seal and a clear, unobstructed waterway when fully opened. Built to meet the most demanding industrial standards, they offer long-lasting performance and easy operation for critical flow control applications.
Key Features
- Rated for a maximum working pressure of 300 PSI for high-demand systems.
- Heavy-duty body constructed from ductile iron (ASTM A536 65-45-12) for superior strength.
- Resilient wedge disc made of ductile iron fully encapsulated with high-grade EPDM.
- Durable stainless steel stem prevents corrosion and ensures smooth mechanical movement.
- Fusion bonded epoxy coating applied internally and externally for maximum protection.
- Available in both Outside Screw and Yoke (OS and Y) and Non-Rising Stem (NRS) designs.
- Versatile flanged end connections compatible with ANSI/AWWA or BS PN 16 standards.
- UL Listed and FM Approved to meet global safety and quality requirements.
- Full-bore design minimizes pressure drop and prevents debris accumulation.
- Precision-engineered seals provide a zero-leakage shutoff.
Benefits
Using these gate valves significantly reduces the risk of system failure and maintenance costs. The ductile iron construction provides high impact resistance, while the epoxy coating prevents the internal rust and corrosion that often plague standard metal valves. Because the wedge is encapsulated in EPDM, it creates a perfect seal even when small particulates are present in the line. This ensures that your system remains secure and functional for decades. The UL and FM certifications provide peace of mind, knowing the equipment is tested for emergency fire protection use.
Usage / How to Use
These valves are primarily used as shut-off valves in water supply lines, fire sprinkler systems, and industrial plumbing. The OS and Y version is ideal for fire mains where a visual indication of the valve position (open or closed) is required. The NRS version is perfect for underground installations or areas with limited space where the stem does not need to rise. To use, simply rotate the handwheel clockwise to close the wedge and stop the flow, or counter-clockwise to open the passage. They should be installed between standard piping flanges using appropriate gaskets and bolts.
