Benefits
These switches solve the critical problem of undetected system activity or potential failure. By installing a vane type flow switch, you receive an automatic alert the moment a sprinkler head opens and water begins to move, allowing for faster emergency response and minimizing potential water damage. Pressure switches help monitor for leaks, air compressor issues, or pump failures by alerting you to unauthorized pressure drops or dangerous increases. This proactive monitoring ensures your fire protection system is always at peak operational readiness, protecting your property, valuable assets, and most importantly, human lives. The heavy duty construction ensures that the device remains functional throughout its long standby life, even in damp or demanding mechanical room environments.
Usage / How to Use
Water flow switches are installed directly into the main or branch piping of a wet sprinkler system using a U-bolt mounting. When water flows past the internal vane, it moves a lever that triggers an electrical contact to send a signal to the fire alarm panel. Pressure switches are connected to the system piping or fire pump discharge via a small threaded connection to monitor air or water pressure levels. They are commonly used in commercial warehouses, chemical plants, hospitals, and office buildings. Installation should be performed by a licensed fire protection contractor to ensure correct wiring and sensitivity settings according to local fire codes and NFPA standards.
